Secure Wireless UGV Data Links For NLOS Communications

Introduction

The FD-7800 radio leverages IWAVE's COFDM IP Mesh waveform, delivering exceptional real-world coverage, unmatched throughput, and robustness. IWAVE's proprietary waveform operates as a mobile ad hoc network (MANET) and incorporates multiple features to deliver superior performance in the most challenging environments. The FD-7800 radio supports all waveform variants, enabling users to mix and match across various form factors and power levels.

Each waveform is best suited for specific applications, from UGV swarming to point-to-point links, and is interchangeable across all IWAVE software-defined radios (SDRs). IWAVE offers one of the broadest hardware product lines, ranging from the smallest, lightest, and lowest-power OEM modules for micro-UAVs to rugged radios ideal for maritime, ground vehicle, and control station applications.
Frequency options range from 500MHz to 1.4GHz, with support for combining bands to create tri-band products.

Each band typically offers 100MHz of frequency, one of the widest frequency coverages in the industry. IWAVE IP MESH radios provide self-forming, self-healing mesh networks, ranging from point-to-point links with two radios to dynamic mesh networks with up to 32 radios.

FD-7800 MiMo IP Mesh Core Module Key Features:

Key Features of Mesh Wireless Data Transmission Radio For Dynamic Robotic Connectivity

Ad Hoc Digital Wireless Data Link System - Key Features:

  • SDR: Software Defined Radio, the world's smallest MIMO dual-band mesh radio
  • Maximum 40MHz Bandwidth: Utilizes LTE-A's CA technology (Carrier Aggregation): Dual carriers support a maximum 40MHz operating bandwidth (2 x 20MHz).
  • Strong Interference Resilience: 600MHz (566-678MHz) and 1.4GHz (1420-1530MHz) dual-band, totaling 222MHz, effectively avoids interference.
  • Frequency Hopping: Frequency hopping is performed based on RSRP, SNR, and SER to select the optimal frequency.
100Mbps Throughput: 64 nodes share 100Mbps uplink and downlink speeds.
  • Strong Non-Line-of-Sight Capabilities: Ground-to-ground communication ranges up to 1-3 kilometers.
  • 10km Communication Range: Air-to-ground LOS communication range between aircraft and GCS is 10 kilometers.

FHSS(Frequency Hopping Spread Sprectrum)

Utilizing IWAVE's proprietary algorithms and mechanisms, the FD-7800 internally calculates and evaluates the current link quality based on factors such as RSRP, SNR, and SER. When predefined thresholds are met, the system initiates frequency hopping and selects the optimal frequency from a database. Frequency hopping execution is entirely dependent on real-time wireless conditions:

1. When link quality remains stable, no hopping occurs.
2. The system maintains the current frequency until handover criteria are met.

Application

Various Interfaces

The rich interfaces enable users to connect various terminals.

  • Expansion Port: It is 20pin port for uses to define more interface
and single-chip microprocessor application, download port, power port, etc.
  • RJ45 ports: users can connect the IP camera, sensors, onboard
    microcomputers such as Linux/windows/Android...
  • Serial port: It can connect with PTZ, flight control such as
    pixhawk
  • USB: It can be used for debugging and AT commands sending or
enumerate it as network port or AT command port.
